SOmatic Therapy / Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is not a modality but the result of applied techniques.
Our fascial system is technically comprised of all of the soft tissue (connective tissue) inside of us. This fiber-and-fluid-based system includes what are known as our superficial, deep, and loose fascial layers, as well as our ligaments and tendons. While we often picture our individual body parts as independent structures, in truth, our fascia weaves our muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and blood vessels together into an interconnected and interdependent whole.
Keeping this in mind, a somatic therapy session focuses not only on the problem areas (pain, tension, restriction, emotional trauma) but how those areas effect the rest of the body. The techniques can range from active and passive stretches, cupping and massage, aromatherapy, as well as the more subtle modalities of Reiki and Cranial Sacral based therapies. Each session is unique to each client and is based upon what they need on a session to session basis.
